What we collect, and who touches it.
Last updated August 10, 2026
The short version
- Yes, we collect data. PureFaith is not a zero-data app — an account, your streak, your disciplines, and your activity are stored on our servers so they survive reinstalling.
- What you browse is never collected. Blocking runs through Apple's Screen Time on your device; we never see which sites or apps you visit.
- Messages you send the AI coach leave your device and are processed by Anthropic. Don't type anything there you wouldn't want processed by a third party.
- We do not sell your data, show third-party ads, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
What we collect
- Account: a user ID, and your email address if you sign in with Apple, Google, or email. You may use the app under a pseudonym.
- Your progress: streak, XP, level, badges, completed disciplines, and your battle profile (the struggle categories you select during setup).
- Content you write: journal entries, prayer logs, and any posts or check-ins you share with a brotherhood or accountability partner.
- Product analytics: in-app events — which screens and features you use, as counts and timestamps. These are first-party (stored in our own database, no analytics SDK) and deliberately exclude your email, your name, and the text of anything you write.
- Purchase status: whether you hold an active subscription. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details.
- Diagnostics: crash and performance data via Apple, subject to your iOS analytics setting.
What we never collect
Your browsing history, the contents of the sites or apps you block, your contacts, your photos, or your location. Screen Time data is read on-device through Apple's Family Controls framework and is never transmitted to us.
How we use AI
PureFaith uses AI, and that means some of your text leaves your device. Specifically:
- Faith Coach and AI-generated encouragement send your messages, plus light context (your streak length and rank), to Anthropic's Claude models by way of our server. Anthropic processes them to generate a reply. Your conversations are not used to train any model.
- Spoken prayers send prayer text — from our written library, not anything you typed — to ElevenLabs to synthesise audio, which is then cached on your device.
- Safety: before a message is sent anywhere, the app checks it on your device for language indicating self-harm or suicidal thinking. If it finds any, crisis resources appear immediately. This check runs locally; its result is never stored or transmitted.
AI output can be wrong. The coach offers spiritual encouragement — it is not counselling, medical, or clinical advice.
Third parties who process your data
We use these providers to run the app. Each receives only what it needs:
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication; stores your account, progress, and content.
- Anthropic — processes AI coach messages, as described above.
- ElevenLabs — synthesises spoken prayer audio from our prayer library.
- Apple — App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple, push notifications, crash reporting.
- Google — only if you choose Sign in with Google.
We use no advertising networks, marketing trackers, or third-party analytics SDKs. We have never sold personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Community content
Anything you post to a brotherhood or share with a partner is visible to those people and stored on our servers. Posts can be reported and reviewed by us under the Community Guidelines. Your real identity is never shown — the community is pseudonymous by design.
Your rights and choices
- Delete everything: Profile → Settings → Delete Account permanently erases your account, progress, and content from our servers.
- Access or export: email us and we'll send you a copy of your data.
- Correct: most data is editable in the app; email us for anything that isn't.
- Depending on where you live — including the EEA and UK under GDPR, and California under the CCPA/CPRA — you may have further rights to access, delete, correct, or object. We honour these requests regardless of location.
Retention
We keep your data while your account exists. Deleting your account removes it from our production systems immediately and from backups within 30 days. Deletion requests sent by email are completed within 30 days.
Children
PureFaith is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and note it in the app before the change takes effect.
